Function
Both blinds and curtains are functional and decorative. However, curtains have a wider range of fabrics, textures, and colors. There are also decorative types of blinds, particularly the Zeep blinds or Ziptrak Singapore blinds. These automatic blinds can give your room a festive or more serious mood with just a push of the button. Rainbow and Vitrom blinds are other types of decorative and functional blinds.
Home and Office Style
Homes and offices have different layouts and designs. There are homes that reflect the heritage of old Singapore, but most of the residences look modern. Offices are largely corporate, except those of startups, which tend to look casual. Curtains made of heavy fabrics, look better in homes with opulent designs. blinds complement the minimalism of modern townhouses, condominium units, traditional corporate offices, and even startup offices. Curtains would also look good in minimalist homes provided they are made of lightweight fabric.
Room Type
Zeep blinds, vertical blinds, and roller blinds fit very well in office rooms and event areas. Rooms at home that need more privacy such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens need blinds or lightweight blockout curtains. On the other hand, curtains are more fitting in areas where you’ll be having people around, such as the living room and dining room. However, there are blinds that look a bit more stylish than others, such as rainbow and vitrom blinds that also look good in these areas.
Window Size
Heavy fabric curtains look great on large windows. Lightweight fabric curtains look better on small ones. Zeep blinds, as well as vertical and roller blinds look nice on large windows. Other types of blinds namely bamboo, rainbow, Roman and Venetian fit better on small and medium-sized windows. Rainbow and Roman blinds provide shade best in kitchens, while Venetian blinds are the most appropriate type for bedrooms.
Maintenance
Maintaining blinds is easier than curtains. To clean blinds, you just need to dust off dirt from them daily with a rag or a feather duster. Cleaning curtains involve some more work. To clean curtains, you need to take them down and shake the dust off weekly. Heavier fabrics need to be dry-cleaned.
